Nutrition for Football Performance

The aim of this review is to identify important nutritional factors that can help football athletes to improve performance. Football is described as an intermittent sport encompassing cyclical bouts of high intensity anaerobic and aerobic activities such as accelerations and decelerations, changes of direction, unconventional movement patterns, and execution of innumerable technical skills that considerably contribute to energy expenditure. Therefore, football athletes require appropriate nutrition in order to replenish energy expenditure, maximize performance, decrease the risk of injury and illness (Chaves Oliveira et al., 2017).

Com este artigo pretendo colocar algumas questões e fazer ver a todos os envolvidos no mundo do futebol que devemos sempre nos adaptar ao grupo de atletas que estamos a trabalhar, porque é completamente diferente trabalhar com atletas de 10 anos, ou de 15 anos. E que quanto mais novo um atleta é mais oportunidades ele deve ter e mais experiências deve vivenciar.
